It was a great way to start off a fun 3 days of competition, and with our eyes glued on each game here some of the girls who we felt really stood out and shined during Day 1 of the Summer Hoops Festival.
D'yona Davis drawing college interest (Free)
A true star in the making, 5'7" guard D'yona Davis (Harry Truman '18) did all she could do this past season for the Lady Mustangs, and while her numbers of 20 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists a game were very impressive, she is far from content performing at just that level.
Ford is High Performance (Free)
With her game improving seemingly every day, 6'2" forward Julie Ford (Cooperstown '18) is slowly starting to become one of the more impressive post players in New York so it's no surprise that college coaches are now starting to pay attention as well.
Daja Wentz thrives under pressure (Premium)
As one of the more talented guards coming onto the high school scene this past season, 5'6" Daja Wentz (Msgr. Scanlan '19) made the most of her time on the floor with the Crusaders, shining on the varsity level as a freshman and displaying why she already has a number of high major Division 1 schools interested in her abilities.
Andra Espinoza-Hunter returns home (Free)
Clearly one of the top players in the country, 5'11" guard Andra Espinoza-Hunter '17 is a longtime UConn commit for over 2 years already. She played her 7th and 8th grade years for Ossining H.S. before making the move to Blair Academy in New Jersey for the start of her H.S. years.
While known for being a boys’ basketball power, the Mt. Vernon girls program has one of the top talents in the area as 5'9" forward Curstyn Moore '17 has rapidly become one of the toughest and most competitive players out on the AAU circuit this summer.

As one of the top young prospects in Section 9, 5'10" guard Chloe Chaffin (Kingston '18)has gone out so far this spring and summer and solidified herself as sure fire future Division 1 prospect as one of the leading scorers and playmakers for the Upstate AAU power, NY Havoc.
Selena Philoxy takes over (Free)
One of, if not the biggest key to South Shore H.S. and their ability to repeat as PSAL Champions this past season was big 6'2" forward Selena Philoxy '17. Philoxy, who was new to the Lady Vikings roster, came in and filled a massive role averaging a double-double and dominated at times en route to yet another title.
Long Island PG passes the test (Premium)
Having been one of the better point guards and playmakers out on Long Island this past season, 5'6" guard Jourdin Thomas (South Side '17) decided that it was time for her to test herself against the very best, and that is exactly what she has been able to do playing on the Nike EYBL circuit this spring and summer with the New Jersey Sparks.
Albany guard drawing D-I attention (Premium)
The talent level in the Albany region over the past several years has grown immensely as players coming out of Section 2 are considered to be some of the best in New York State, and one rising senior whose game is drawing a good amount of Division 1 attention these days is 5'10" guard Lucy Tougas (Glens Falls '17).

As the Class of 2016 are celebrating graduation and the fact that they will be moving onto college soon it's rare at this point to find a quality player with excellent academics still on the board, but the head scratching case of 5'6" guard Taliyah Brisco (Francis Lewis '16) shows that even a top quality, championship player can be overlooked by college coaches.

GymRat Challenge 16U Top Performers (Premium)
This past weekend saw not just great teams take the court for the GymRat Challenge at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, but great individual talents as well as some of the top players throughout New York State took the court to showcase their skills in hoping to lead their AAU squads to championships.
Kate Cain Makes Her Decision (Premium)
As one of the most physical dominating and imposing players in New York State, 6'5" forward Kate Cain (Pine Bush '17) was considered to be among the top recruits in the area, and after a visit last week and weighing her options, Cain decided she knew where she wanted to be and made the decision to commit.
The 16u GymRat Challenge up at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs this weekend was loaded with some of the top girl’s teams from the Northeast, and while they may have had a number of challenges along the way the Westchester Hoopers would not be denied as they overcame deficits, foul issues, and in some cases the referees to win the Gold Bracket Championship, proving themselves to be among the top AAU teams now in the area.

The Rose Classic in Brooklyn has always been known to bring out the best of the best among girl’s basketball throughout the Northeast, and while many big names come out and play with their respect AAU teams, no one may have boosted their stock more so far this spring at the Rose than 5'8" guard Peyton Steinman (Pittsfield, MA '17).
Grace Guachione’s an Albany Lady Star (Premium)
A prolific scorer who can also run a team with ease, 5'7" guard Grace Guachione (Miss Hall's School, MA '17) has all the tools to become one of the more impactful prospects this summer on the AAU circuit playing with the Albany Lady Stars, and she is hoping to go out and make a name for herself as she just seems to know how to get the job done.
The Ramil Sisters 3.0 (Premium)
Over the past couple years New York State has seen an invasion of Ramil sisters as Binghamton H.S. has produced first Jodi and then Olivia, both of whom have now taken their talents to Georgetown, and next up on the list is 6'0" wing Annie Ramil '18.
D-I Bound Excel Over iExel; Wins Rose Classic Chip (Free)
BROOKLYN, NY - As the top two seeds heading into the playoffs at the Rose Classic, for many the dream matchup for the championship game was iExcel vs. D1 Bound. Both went unbeaten throughout the regular season, and were loaded with top future college stars. All both needed to do was fight their way through 3 rounds of playoff games to meet for the title, and that's what both ended up doing.
