It was the final regular season day at the Rose Classic on Sunday, and with the regular season now having come to a close the playoffs will soon be upon us to determine who is the best of the best at the tournament played twice a year at JHS 113 in Fort Greene, Brooklyn.
BROOKLYN, NY - Sunday was the final day of the regular season at the Rose Classic and the action was highlighted by a pair of teams who each played multiple games, shining at JHS 113 as teams jockeyed for playoff position with one last chance to get that big statement making win.

One of the top point guards in the Northeast, 5'8" Qadashah Hoppie (The Patrick School, NJ '17) keeps proving herself wherever she plays. A two time Western New York H.S. Player of the Year as voted on by the Buffalo News, 5'9" guard Erica Martinsen has put up some astounding numbers including a 50-point game in the Section 6 Class "AA" playoffs this past season.
Normally we do high school recruiting and commitment stories but the case of Lexi Martins we had to make an exception. NYCHoops.net was notified that Martins just accepted a scholarship offer that exemplifies what it means to use basketball instead of letting basketball use you.

STATEN ISLAND, NY - Turn back the clock 7 months to this past August. St. Anthony's H.S. had just won the Conrad McRae Girls Championship to close out the summer and the talk at that time was clear, the Friars goal this season was a CHSAA Class "AA" State Championship, and they believed they had all the pieces to get it done.

FRESH MEADOWS, NY - The boys had their Brooklyn/Queens Diocese Semifinals on Wednesday, but Thursday night it was girls turn as they had their B/Q semi's, also at St. Francis Prep in Queens. The highlight game saw Bishop Loughlin take on The Mary Louis Academy, while the other game pitted top seed Christ the King against Nazareth.
Having lost their entire starting five from last season, a group that had been together for four years, there were questions entering this season about just how good this season's Long Island Lutheran team would be.
It was Final Four day out in Suffolk County as the four best girls teams in Class "AA" took the court to try and advance to next week's championship game. Both games proved to be competitive throughout but with Sachem East downing Copiague 54-44, and Commack taking out Kings Park 58-44, Wednesday's title tilt is now set.
